There are lots of exciting things to see within easy reach from the Wise Old Hunter lodge or Moose Cabin at Bear Paw Adventure. Here is just a sample.
  • Explore the Anchor River and the Beach at Anchor Point where you can view four volcanoes.
  • Visit Normal Lowell Studio & Gallery (907 235 7344).
  • Visit Seldovia, a quiet fishing village on the south side of Kachemak Bay, reached by water taxi from Homer or by air. Fishing, clamming, berry picking and hiking, www.Seldovia.com.
  • Visit the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge center (907 235 6961) located in Homer at 451 Sterling Highway.
  • Check out the Pratt Museum, sponsored by the Homer Society of Natural History (admission fee) Call 907 235 8635.
  • Enjoy the view of the Spit and glaciers across Kachemak Bay from above Homer on East End Road.
  • See the Fishing Hole on the Homer spit. A good stop and opportunity to participate in this “terminal fishery”, or just to watch the action. July – Aug (king salmon), Aug-mid September (silver salmon).
  • Explore the Homer Spit and Small boat Harbor. Just follow the Sterling Highway south to the end of the road.
  • Don’t miss the Alaska Sea life Center, Seward 800 224 2525 www.alaskasealife.org.
