The Kenai Peninsula, and especially Anchor Point, is a popular birding
destination. Planning is currently in progress for the 18th annual Kachemak
Bay Shorebird Festival, which will be held on May 6 – 9, 2010 in nearby
Homer. The Keynote Speaker is Peter Harrison who will speak on Albatross.
The theme of the festival is Partners around the Pacific: Common Waters,
Uncommon Birds. In addition to sightings on the tours in Homer, you will see
many birds among the spruce trees at Bear Paw Adventure and the Anchor Point
beach is a great place to see more shore birds and eagles. For more information on the Shorebird Festival and other information, please review these sites - www.homeralaska.org/shorebird.htm\ www.birdinghomeralaska.org www.birding.alaska.gov (information on “Wings over Alaska”) Then, come back here. The lodge or cabin at Bear Paw Adventure is your home base for the Shorebird Festival or for birding during other times of the year. You will enjoy sightings from the comfort of the open decks of the lodge or cabin. |
